Oracle and SQL Server DBA

A very successful hedge fund that has been around for quite some time is looking for a Junior to Mid individual with experience using both Oracle and SQL Server whom also has a financial industry background. (This is not a production DBA role, rather an application DBA role.)

• Junior-Mid (3-6 years) level strong Oracle (10g and 11g) and SQL Server (2005, 2008 and 2008 R2) DBA.
• This role will involve dealing with several business critical systems that use Oracle and SQL Server databases. Candidate will work with our primary DBAs for both technologies. Effort/time division between the two roles would be roughly 80% and 20% for SQL Server and Oracle respectively.
• Besides managing backups, restoration and keeping databases in good health, candidate will also be working closely with 25-30 developers to troubleshoot performance issues, help with DB architecture and design for business applications

Technical Expertise:

• Must have DBA experience with Oracle 11g on UNIX based Servers
• Must have DBA experience with SQL Server 2008, 2014, 2016
• Must have strong expertise in writing/optimizing complex queries, procedures, functions etc. in Oracle/SQL
• Must have working knowledge in HA/DR and various replication mechanisms and tools for Oracle/SQL databases
• Must have working knowledge in Partitioning, hardware configuration, physical I/O optimization etc. for Oracle/SQL databases
• Good working knowledge in SSIS, SSRS, or SSAS is highly desirable
