Operations Research Data Science Consultant

Delta Air Lines, Inc., seeks a Operations Research Business Consultant

The Operations Research Business Consultant provides leadership and quantitative expertise (data analysis, statistics, forecasting, simulation, and optimization) in the form of models, consulting, and software prototypes. The OR BC will work on a variety of high-visibility IT projects, either in the form of internal development or in conjunction with external vendors. Such roles may include requirements development, design, and testing of decision support systems.

This role will have a particular emphasis on Revenue Management. The Business Consultant must become an expert in Delta’s RM systems and provide thought leadership to help guide decisions on project prioritization and modeling approach. The OR BC must have the ability to devise, model, calibrate, and implement enhancements in demand forecasting, inventory optimization, overbooking, and RM performance metrics.

The OR BC must actively communicate with the customer (e.g., the partnering business unit) to clearly define needs, report progress, and define an execution plan. Must be able to formally report results in a concise and understandable way. The OR BC must be able to work independently and drive a task to completion with accuracy, transparency, and urgency.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Strong analytical, quantitative, leadership and communication skills are required.
• Statistical modeling, process evaluation, and/or proven problem solving skills required.
• Experience with machine learning preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel, SAS or Python, and SQL required.
• Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau) preferred.
• B.A./B.S. degree required. M.S. in operations research, mathematics, statistics, transportation science (or comparable quantitative field) required.
• 5+ years of experience with airline revenue management strongly preferred.
