Responsibilities: Assesses, prepares, implements and evaluates marketing/communication plans for select campus clients; serves in a consultative role to assist in identifying client issues, challenges and opportunities and then, through marketing planning, helps client attain goals and garner national visibility; facilitates close working relationship between (and within) Strategic Communications and clients. Facilitates team meetings to initiate projects and provide progress reports. Uses online surveys, focus groups and interviews to gather data. Interprets and organizes data and presents findings through spreadsheets, charts, graphs, reports and other means with the goal of helping Marketing and LSU make better decisions about campaigns designed to recruit and retain students and improve university image and reputation. Maintains data on LSU competitors. Assists the Senior Marketing Strategist with institutional research projects for LSU, including scheduling, developing survey instruments, fielding studies; regularly measures marketing results and makes recommendations for action. Assists the Senior Marketing Strategist in developing university marketing plans, Strategic Communications planning calendar and university research calendar. Assists Senior Marketing Strategist in supervising media buying, including securing space, coordinating contract/payment, ensuring that ad specifications and deadlines are met; monitors status of institutional advertising expenditures as per Louisiana state law.

Essential personnel responsibilities include staffing university emergency call centers as assigned, communicating university situation/status to callers during crisis situations, helping callers get answers to their questions by funneling questions to the LSU EOC as necessary, helping the LSU EOC as requested; may involve work on nights, weekends, or when the university is closed.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; at least three years of years marketing, PR or communications exp erience; Marketing/PR background and familiarity with marketing research; detailed-oriented, have communication skills, both written and oral, as well as interpersonal and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Mass Communication, Public Relations, English, Computer Science, Statistics; strong analytical, writing and presentation skills; comfortable defending data; ability to create surveys/polls; focus group moderation, familiarity with Google Analytics and experience with mobile research techniques a plus; competence in PowerPoint, Excel.
Special Qualifications: Must have a demonstrated track record of progressive responsibility in marketing, advertising and/or public relations, with experience drawn from higher education, non-profit organizations, advertising/PR agencies, government/politics or from the corporate arena. Must be an articulate, confident presenter. According to PS-18 this position is deemed essential and maybe required to report to campus in times of closure or emergency.
