Assistant Project Manager

General Responsibilities

The Assistant Project Manager assists with the planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Will also assist in reviewing project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project. Will update and maintain the construction schedule, and prepare and supervise completion of project closeout. Responsible for documenting daily activities and identifying/solving on-site construction issues

Other duties will include contract administration, billing, submittal processing, bid preparation and filing among others, as the project may require. Strong Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, and Database software experience essential. Supervisory experience preferred.

Qualification Standards

  • Must have at least one year of experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have a general understanding of the craft work being performed
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/ supervision
  • Reading, writing and hearing comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work and/or safety policy
  • Will need to be able to perform sedentary to heavy work
  • Must have knowledge of safety rules and regulations and learn client and company policy
  • Knowledge and understanding of MSDS sheets necessary
  • Must be able to manipulate and traverse uneven terrain, ladders, multi-floor buildings with no elevator, pipe bands, vessels and structures

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
  • May be required to work at elevated heights
  • Will be performing tasks involving physical labor construction projects
  • May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
  • Position may require working in all weather conditions; prolonged bending, squatting or standing and lifting.
