Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Process Development Engineer, will be responsible for leading process/product improvement projects, and completing process development projects in support of new product introductions, for the Oral Care business.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Initiates and leads the process development activities for new products and processes.
  • Active member of cross-functional NPI and NTI teams; ensures Design for Manufacturability in early stages.
  • Plans and executes the technology transfer of new products and processes to manufacturing plant. Delivers projects safely, on-time, and within budget.
  • Identifies and implements disruptive manufacturing technologies to improve product cost, service and quality.
  • Completes formal process validation studies and documents work according to established procedures for medical device manufacturing.
  • Develops, presents and communicates capital proposals for new processing technology and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Performs experiments in pilot plant using various batch process equipment.
  • Provides process related input for the design of new process equipment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum three (3) years of combined experience in process development, process research, manufacturing technology, and/or manufacturing engineering in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Materials Science and Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three years of manufacturing plant or pilot plant experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Experience working in a medical device or regulated business
  • High level of mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistics tools
  • Knowledge and experience using Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology for problem solving, project management, control plans, and/or continuous improvement
  • Effective facilitation, communication, and teaching skills
  • Ability to engage and influence the organization
  • Results-oriented with strong process and execution skills
  • Self-starter who leads with high energy

Location: Maplewood, MN

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international
