Mainframe Developer, Tech Lead

About the Role: Your role within our organization provides opportunities to work collaboratively with an experienced team of technical and business application developers, as well as have exposure and experience with our clients who deploy the software applications to meet their business needs. You’ll have a wide range of experiences and use of your skills across multiple areas from business analyst to design architect to developer and implementation specialist. In addition to day-to-day development and client support activities, there are also rewarding opportunities to work on revenue generating projects with and for our clients.

Financial & Risk Management Solutions (FRMS) division encompasses a wide-range of financial product solutions used by over 4000 clients world-wide, in over 40 countries. Over 800 FRMS associates support over 200 solutions and services ranging from payments, fraud, anti-money laundering, financial risk and cash management. Our product solutions enable our clients to be leaders in a competitive and continuously changing global market.


Essential Job Responsibilities
:

  • Client support and services
  • Software application maintenance and development
  • Professional Services including implementation support and custom development
  • Understand infrastructure and network security including firewalls, proxies and multi factor authentication
  • Use expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Visio and Project Management tools.
  • Create and execute release and project plans.
  • Problem solve, troubleshoot, analyze and exercise debugging skills in multi-tiered systems

Required Qualifications:


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or experience equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Job Related Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development/maintenance, systems integration and/or software implementation services


Technical

  • Development and application support using

    • COBOL (z/OS and Microfocus)
    • IBM Assembler desired
    • z/OS JCL/PROCs
    • NET framework (VB.NET and C#)
    • SQL Server 2008 and later
    • Visual Studio
    • Team Foundation Server (TFS)
    • Various operating systems / platforms and environments – z/OS, Windows, AIX
  • Experience with Server / Configuration Management, performance management and tuning
  • Deep understanding of data warehouse design, including relational and dimensional modeling. Design and maintain database tables, indexes, and other entities.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies for application development and delivery.
  • Understand SDLC development process; including requirements, design, construction, testing, installation and implementation.
  • Have a strong understanding of coding principles; including testing, code review, quality control, code promotion, release management and versioning.

Additional Skills

  • Client Focused: Develop, nurture and maintain good client relationships as client-facing support associate
  • Experience with Version One or JIRA a plus.
  • Excellent planning, time management, decision making and organizational skills with the ability to deal with multiple clients and manage multiple simultaneous objectives. Is results-oriented.
  • Understand best practices for client support, case management and resolution
  • Use good communication and interpersonal skills working with both internal and external technical and non-technical persons.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to deal with ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced and changing environment. Able to be resilient and embrace change.
  • Lead Self: Work with little or no direction; able to self-manage and set priorities.
  • Collaborate and work well with a team.
  • Experience in banking, financial services and/or software industries desired.

Travel Required:

  • 10% to client site or for internal meetings as needed.

Work Environment:

  • Varies by client or Fiserv facilities.
  • Work remote from home office possible.
