Lab Support Engineer III

In this position you will: Under minimal direction, design, assemble and maintain a lab environment of various telecommunications platforms and configurations to meet customer test requirements. Provide telephony expertise to integrate legacy platforms with new information technology methods and techniques.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design overall lab architecture for complex networked communications environments.
  • Modify system hardware and configuration databases to conform to project requirements.
  • Monitor, diagnose and repair platform hardware and system software
  • Provide input on budgetary estimates for lab environment changes and upgrades
  • Ordering and inventory management of lab systems and its components
  • Provide system test support
  • Perform hardware and platform centric testing for system integrity and assurance
  • Document lab environment configuration
  • Travel to other LGS Locations or Customer Sites as necessary
  • Understand and adhere to all LGS Ethical and Compliance policies
  • Proactively ensure a safe work environment and adhere to LGS EH&S policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level necessary to perform the job

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering or related technical discipline and 4-6 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
  • Experience with telecommunications equipment installation, configuration and maintenance
  • Knowledge of IP based telephony including its architecture, configuration, and maintenance is strongly desired.
  • Experience in the areas of IP networking and Ethernet switch/router configuration is desired.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Unix/Solaris/Linux based servers, workstations, and networks is desired.
  • Experience with server virtualization is desired.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software applications and other software applications as required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and flexibility to adapt to change
  • Strong teamwork skills
