Description

POWER Engineers, Inc. – Information Technology Infrastructure Department has an immediate opening for an Infrastructure Services Engineer reporting to the IT Infrastructure Department Manager. The Infrastructure Services Engineer position is responsible for engineering, implementing, and supporting infrastructure services, servers, and virtualization technologies. This position requires advanced technical knowledge and hands-on experience with the Windows and Linux operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, System Center, Hyper-V, VMWare ESX and Citrix. This position is also responsible for providing active and engaged leadership within the Infrastructure group including subject matter expertise and ability to advise and cross-train fellow engineers and individuals within the Tier 1 and Tier 2 support organizations. Will collaborate with POWER’s IT organizational departments such as Enterprise Architecture, Application Services, and the Service Desk to engineer, test, document, implement, support, and monitor in concert with the infrastructure architecture roadmap for the enterprise.

Role Responsibilities:

Engineer and implement systems from Enterprise Architecture provided standards, designs, and architectural plans.
Schedule and implement changes to established technologies.
Ensure that technologies are meeting their performance and quality SLAs.
Possess advanced technical knowledge of the assigned technologies, and transferring this knowledge to IT Operations either by identifying required training, or transferring knowledge via person-to-person instruction.
Test and validate, hotfixes or patches before they are implemented on production systems using the documented Change Management process.
Escalate to vendors for break/fix support.
Perform Tier 3 support activities.

Required Education/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical degree.
5 to 7+ years of combined experience engineering, implementing and operating global systemsnetworks including: server, virtual, storage, and infrastructure services.
Demonstrated project experience with large-scale server, virtualization, storage, andor infrastructure services implementations.
Demonstrable server support and administration experience; including configuration, procurement, installation, maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting and lifecycle management.
Strong product, service, and vendor knowledge.
Knowledge of SLA, KPI’s, and forecasting (demand management).
Experience with system monitoring and automation within global environments.
Experience working with onshore and offshore teams.
Experience working with insourced and outsourced IT Operations.
Demonstrated leadership (vision and direction).
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent teamwork and collaborative skills.
Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Visio.

Specific Technology Expertise:

Server Operating Systems: Linux, Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008/2012.
Advanced technical knowledge of Infrastructure Services such as, but not limited to: Active Directory, DNS, Microsoft System Center, Exchange, Proxy Services, File Transfer Services, etc.
Strong familiarity with network technologies (OSI layers 1 -7, Routers, Switches, Dynamic Routing, IP Networking, Firewalls, Wireless Ethernet)
Virtualization Technologies: VMware, Hyper-V, and Citrix (VDI and AppV a plus).
High availability and Disaster Recovery.
