Intermediate/Senior PHP Platform Developer

Virtual, work-from-home position. Work anywhere in the U.S. Must be a U.S. Resident

AudiologyDesign, a leading website services company with a market-dominant position in the hearing healthcare profession, is seeking a knowledgeable Intermediate/Senior PHP Platform Developer with experience in a later stage startup environment who is motivated, creative, and fun, to maintain and rebuild our core web-based platform.

ABOUT THE POSITION

• Full-time, 8a-5p in your time zone
• Work from your home office
• Must be located in the United States and be legally eligible to work for us without visa sponsorship
• Company-provided MacBook Pro, ISP stipend, etc
• Travel may be required once or twice per year for team or project meetings
• 21 days PTO and full benefits package

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain CMS/CRM platform (written in CakePHP), work to migrate off legacy platform
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to resolve service tickets in our ticket management system, Redmine
• Bug fixes, code refactoring, feature integration
• Collaborate with Client Site (frontend) Developers to improve and modularize their website code
• Improve and maintain server infrastructure, backup strategies and IT procedures pertaining to infrastructure and users
• Develop new features
• Continually innovate our systems to improve operational process efficiencies through automation
• Make large-scale improvements to the codebase, looking for ways to add redundancy and stability and improve code quality

REQUIREMENTS

• Self-motivated with strong time management skills (working from home with little direction from management)
• 5-10 years experience with JavaScript and PHP as a full-stack developer, but with more focus on backend development
• jQuery experience
• Strong experience with PHP MVC Frameworks
• A passion for writing clean code and developing flexible and scalable applications
• Solid understanding of and experience with linux
• Understanding of packages, dependencies, and build processes
• Must be a communication professional – must be able to explain technical issues to a non-technical person, pleasantly
• Experience implementing and integrating open-source and/or 3rd party technology platforms (CMS, CRM, eCommerce, etc.)
• Strong experience building and consuming API’s
• Git or similar VCS experience

“Nice to Haves”

• CakePHP experience
• Experience with Unit testing (any framework)
• SQL experience (mysql)
• Nginx experience
• Cache concepts experience
• Active involvement in software community, contributes to open source, has a github account or similar
• Good understanding of emerging technologies and tools (ES Next, PHP 7, React, Babel, browserify, npm), and considers how they may be relevant to our business
• Has worked in successful later stage start-up companies
