CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota – Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S. D. CHI St. Alexius Health offers a comprehensive line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including: a Level II Trauma Center, primary and specialty physician clinics, home health and hospice services, durable medical equipment services, a fitness and human performance center and ancillary services throughout western and central North Dakota.

Responsibilities

Works under the supervision of the Safety & Emergency Management Coordinator. This individual is responsible for assisting individuals interacting with the Medical Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successfully completed the defined job specific competencies, including competency for age specific, as appropriate.
  • Provide the first impression of the facility and pleasantly and promptly greet, receive, direct, and escort patients and visitors to areas and departments within the facility and campus. Respond to all individuals interacting with the Medical Center for services, including employees, visitors, professional associates, students and vendors with activity and contact information.
  • Begin registration process by verifying identity and researching appointment time and location.
  • Answer phone, transfer and forward calls, page personnel as directed, manage the distribution of mail, messages, deliveries and other items brought to the desk. Provide telephone assistance during emergency situations.
  • Provide assistance to patients and visitors by responding to a wide variety of questions from patients, visitors and staff.
  • Assist with patient and visitor requests for outside transportation and accommodation.
  • Demonstrate and promote effective interdepartmental communication by participation in cooperative efforts to maximize utilization of resources. Assist with orientation of new staff members including review of organization privacy and HIPPA guidelines for releasing patient directory information.
  • Maintain an efficient and organized Patient Services Desk by ensuring customer satisfaction by courteous, confidential service. Responsible for maintaining neat and orderly reception area environment.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:

    High School graduate or equivalent and preferably w/ entry level college courses.


    Experience:

    Experience with registration systems, word processing, spreadsheet applications or Internet knowledge is preferred.

    Skills:

    Ability to operate phone system and assess information through computerized registration and scheduling system.
