Front-End Developer

Description:

The Program is looking for an experienced front-end web developer to join our Portland, Oregon agency. The right person will have advanced experience across a wide variety of applications and hardware, and be excited to learn and try new things. If you are passionate about innovation and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast paced environment, we want to hear from you.

Required Technologies:

  • In depth knowledge and experience in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience with PHP and popular PHP CMS e.g. Craft, WordPress, Drupal, etc.
  • Experience with front-end build tools. e.g. Gulp.js, Webpack, etc.
  • Experience with templating languages e.g. twig, smarty, etc
  • Strong understanding of Git and Git workflows

Responsibilities:

  • Take technical ownership of front-end visual layer
  • Assist in development of website wireframes and visual designs (from a technical perspective)
  • Ability to balance design, technical and business constraints
  • Ability to solve cross browser and mobile issues
  • Collaborate with team members in an agile, fast paced environment
  • Lend advice and leadership to engineering team members
  • Provide recommendations and insight, while remaining positive, open and flexible

Qualifications:

  • 2+ Years of relevant, agency experience working on web applications and websites
  • Passionate about remaining ahead of the technological curve
  • Experience developing and implementing mobile-first responsive websites start to finish
  • Understanding of web development user experience best practices
  • High degree of initiative and self direction; must be detail oriented and proactive
  • Ability to handle projects solo, but thoroughly enjoy collaborating with a partner or a team
  • Experience with React or other modern front-end view frameworks a plus
  • Experience with Ruby and Rails a plus
  • Experience contributing to OSS projects or any community involvement a plus
  • Ping Pong experience preferred (paddles provided)

Details:

This is an in-house position working from our studio in SE Portland. Salary is competitive based on experience. The Program provides a competitive benefit package that includes paid holidays, vacation/personal time, 401k matching, and health, dental and vision insurance. Relocation package available if applicable.
