Flexographic Production Manager

Rocky Mountain Label & Packaging, located in Denver, CO, is a growing manufacturer of flexographic and digitally printed labels & flexible packaging. We are currently looking for an experienced Production Manager with at least 3-5 years of management experience in the flexo/digital label industry. Candidates must have complete knowledge of flexographic printing presses, pressure sensitive labels, and high quality four color process printing. Duties will include the supervision and management of production, in addition to recruiting, training and leading new team members.

Preferred candidates would have experience running narrow web flexo presses, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues with equipment operation or operate a press in an emergency.

Knowledge of HP Indigo digital presses would be a plus as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the production department with clear communication of goals, performance feedback, corrective action.
  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained in all respects.
  • Develop and maintain trained staff in production departments through the selection, training, and evaluation of all production personnel.
  • Continually review job tasks and work with subordinates to create cost saving measures and/or ideas to improve quality, service, and safety.
  • Observe work, monitor equipment, reports and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Monitor the production process and project status ensuring that each project is meeting internal and external customer requirements.
  • Ensure all color control procedures are current and maintained.
  • Consistently meet daily productivity goals set forth in the printing schedule.
  • Daily review of production reports to ensure production and waste goals are achieved.
  • Update process and procedures to ensure repeatable and productive work.
  • Ensure the development of training programs, Standard Operating Procedures and documents.
  • Negotiate with vendors to ensure best pricing and delivery on supplies and equipment.
  • Develop department goals and perform annual reviews.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous production planning experience, preferably with short lead times and expedite requests.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills as well as problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Comfortable working to meet tight deadlines and short lead times.
  • Maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good analytical skills and intermediate technical and mechanical ability.
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, influence and implement change.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills in both oral and written format.
  • Accuracy in work and strong attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively in establishing production goals and evaluating performance.
  • Individual must be able to handle administrative activities, maintain records, reports, or files. This includes the preparation and maintenance of employee records and documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to learn and utilize other software including LabelTraxx.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field would be preferred, in combination with a minimum of 5 years related experience, and/or 10 years of equivalent education and work experience in the pressure sensitive label industry required.
  • Label Printing Industry: 5 years
  • Flexographic Production Management: 3 years

Work Requirement:

This position may occasionally require some work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business cycle and customer volume of business. It has a moderate to high demand for tight deadlines. Requires good color recognition, also the ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year
