Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst assists the Senior Director of Finance in the preparation of monthly financial reporting, the annual audit and the 403 B plan audit work papers, the supporting schedules for the Form 990, and supports the monthly closing.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Prepares the monthly financial and management reports, comparing actuals to budget/forecast. Answers questions from managers and provides additional information as needed. Prepares or serves as backup in all areas of financial statement preparation. (20%)

Prepares required schedules for annual financial, A-133 and 403b audits, and Form 990. (20%)

·
Prepares grants reports and grant budgets. (5%)

·
Maintains expert knowledge of the report writer, creates new reports, and resolves issues which may occur. Provides support in maintaining internal budgets, forecasting, and reporting. (15%)

·
Provides input into accounting software selection and has significant role in implementation. (20%)

·
Prepares account reconciliation schedules and supports the month closing as needed. (20%)

·
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
·
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

·
A minimum of 10 years of experience in a not for profit environment.

·
Experience with federal grants and contracts management is required.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of not for profit accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of A-133 cost principles.
  • Previous experience in selecting and implementing software systems preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of account reconciliations, account analysis, and journal entries.

Skills

  • Self – starter able to prioritize, organize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Has demonstrated skills in problem solving, confidentiality, and judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are required.
  • Highly skilled with the Microsoft Office suite of products – primarily Excel.
  • Experience working with Navision software preferred.

Ability:

  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to be flexible in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
