Field Technician

Job Purpose

Under the direction of the Field Project Engineer, this position is responsible for field installations, cabling, equipment testing, system configuration setup, image quality adjustments, equipment maintenance, and record completion.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follows company engineering procedures and guidelines in the installation of photo enforcement equipment in the field.
  • Stages, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and services mechanical and electrical equipment on new and existing installations.
  • Performs and documents initial image quality evaluations and adjustments.
  • Conducts pre-build and system setup: PC, storage, router, and all other ancillary equipment.
  • Performs cabling installation and termination including Cat5e, Cat6, RF/IF cable, coaxial, and low voltage cabling in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Programs and configures photo enforcement equipment.
  • Drives and maintains company vehicles, including cars and bucket trucks.
  • Informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical problems and performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.
  • Performs daily equipment performance checks and maintenance records/logs, including installation configurations in checklists and diagrams and updating company maintenance modules.
  • Travels within Florida may be required for additional maintenance projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or systems or related technology degree with 1 year of experience in the installation and operation of surveillance systems,

or

  • Associate’s degree in the technical field with 5 years of relevant installation experience,

or

  • Training courses and certificates in electronic sensors and systems with at least 10 years of relevant installation experience.
  • Knowledge of IP-based cameras is a must.
  • General knowledge of IP networking.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows Desktop, web browsers, etc.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and principals.
  • Proficient experience with hand tools and measuring instruments, including multimeter.
  • General understanding of structured cabling.
  • Ability to work without supervision consistently performing duties to company standards.
  • Fluent in English. Spanish-bilingual preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a bucket truck.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and a drug test.

  • Able to work in varying outdoor weather conditions. The job requires moderate physical activity: must be able to carry and transport loads up to 50 lbs. periodically. Must be able to see 20/20 vision with correction and differentiate colors between light signals. Must be willing to work in high voltage areas; at various heights: bucket trucks, ladders, etc. Works occasional evenings and weekends based on job demands.
