Entry Level Software Engineer

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Entry Level Software Engineer is responsible for providing, creating, and modifying programming applications.

Job Description:

Software Engineering

  • Designs, modifies, develops, writes, and implements software programming applications
  • Supports and/or installs software applications and operating systems daily for clients and internal department members
  • Sets up direct mail for clients upon request; issues daily client notices; provides other statements and applications for clients

Quality Control:

  • Participates in software testing process including test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software
  • Tests, debugs, and follows through on the development and testing of software throughout project life cycles
  • Supports the Data Processing Department after hours as needed on a rotating schedule; provides support on some weekends
  • Provides daily technical and business support to customers and other internal departments

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related area

Computer Skills:

  • Must have one year or more experience with Perl and/or Python
  • Must have one year or more experience with Unix commands
  • Knowledge Bash Shell
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Linux Operating systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications

Language Skills:

  • Speak excellent English and communicate information in a clear, concise manner
  • Strong writing and verbal skills

Time Management/ Organizational Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to design/assess organizational structure
  • Ability to quickly and appropriately prioritize conflicting demands
  • Ability to apply a high level of accuracy and attention to details to all tasks

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit at desk, working on computer and phones for a full work day
  • Able to work in a fast pace environment / multi-tasking with organization and efficiency
  • Able to work overtime as needed to complete projects timely
  • Must be able to participate in uncontrolled standby duty on a rotational basis for occasional evening and weekend periods to handle infrequent internal and/or external client support emergencies
