Entry Level Software Developer

Boeing IT Product Systems has an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking, entry level Software Developer in Everett, WA.

The primary responsibility of this position is to replatform existing applications alongside a team. In addition, this role requires continuous interaction with the business and User Experience team members to understand requirements, being involved in regular standups and planning meetings.

The team uses a continuous delivery model that utilizes Extreme Programming practices. Developers are paired and dedicated to software development at least 6 hours per day. This requires developers to be able to constantly articulate their thought process, ideas, and to receive critical feedback. The goal is to ensure the highest quality code is produced.

A successful candidate should possess a great deal of curiosity to learn new concepts and technologies and to understand the business the software supports. The team is currently focused on internal web-based application development.

Strong communication skills will be required to succeed in this job;

Work with product manager and UX designer to define application requirements;

Practice and teach development in a paring model;

Utilize, practice and teach test-driven development TDD;

Knowledge: Apply extensive job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts to deliver projects;

Problem Solving: Provide technical solutions and implementations to complex problems that require ingenuity and creativity;

Discretion: Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective;

Passion for DevOps and Automation (CI/CD);

Understanding of Cloud Technologies;

Excellent troubleshooting skills, investigation, creative solutions;

Experience with analyzing and understanding existing applications;

Experience with multiple platforms, architectures, libraries, etc.;

Command line interfaces, scripting, unit testing, smoke testing.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Technical Bachelor’s degree or higher by June, 2018
Education or experience programming in Java and/or C#/.NET

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Professional or academic experience working as a Software Engineer/ Developer in an environment that utilized the Agile
Software Development Methodology
Experience in planning continuous integration and continuous delivery CI/CD (practice, teach)
Experience with Test Driven Development

Typical Education/Experience:

Technical bachelor’s degree. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
