Enterprise Scheduler

Job Summary

Automated job schedules support mission critical manufacturing, materials management, purchasing, logistics, and financial processes throughout PACCAR’s North and South American information processing landscape orchestrated and integrated with Open Systems and IBM platforms. The Schedulers work closely with Application Developers to add, modify and archive job schedules, all of which have a direct impact on batch and system processing. An Enterprise Scheduler works in a team environment to architect and engineer automation solutions using Enterprise Batch Scheduling software. They are responsible for the end-to-end solution design and solution life-cycle management, including maintenance and Tier-3 Recovery Operations. Enterprise Schedules are part of Data Center Operations, within the Enterprise Command Center (ECC) family and report to the Manager responsible for Operational Services Support.

Job Functions/Responsibilties

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience using the following Job Scheduling Software and Platforms:
    • CA Technologies Workload Automation – Enterprise Scheduling Platform (ESP) preferred or similar scheduling tool
    • Help Systems – Robot iSeries Scheduling
  • Strong knowledge for development of Cross-Platform Job Schedules for WinTel, SAP, UNIX, Linux, IBM z/OS and iSeries
  • Experience with the architecture, design, installation and maintenance of automated scheduling systems for production job and online batch processing schedules
  • Monitor automated schedules to ensure processing efficiency, within service level and without resource impact, and collaborate with the application teams responsible for the schedules to diagnosis issues and define corrective action as required
  • Maintain Mainframe and iSeries Job Recovery documentation within the Scheduling system as directed by the Job Owners
  • Work closely with ECC Recovery Analysts to facilitate resolution of issues involving production job processing and recovery
  • Interact and assist customers with schedule related questions, special job requests, and scheduling changes; follow Change Management processes for all modifications to schedules
  • Investigate, analyze, and recommend technique improvements for schedules and the scheduling systems
  • Requires ability to work a flexible shift, support projects and implementations outside normal hours, and on-call 24×7

    • Familiar with CICS, IMS, DB2, IBM Utilities, TSO CLIST, OPSMVS, REXX, JCL, TOPSECRET, CONNECT DIRECT, SAR/VIEW, EDI, IMS UTILITIES, EZTRIEVE, SYNCSORT, OMEGAMON, DFHSM, and DADS
  • Other Skills:

    • Acute attention to detail
    • Able to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the company
    • Strong problem and trouble shooting skills
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with little direct supervision
    • Ability to work in an integrated team environment

Education/Training Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field required
  • Familiar with Database platforms, specifically IMS, DB2, SQL and Oracle

Work Settings

  • Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, bending, stooping; possible crawling, bending and reaching
