Employment Coordinator

The Employment Coordinator will be responsible for working with other agencies to provide job readiness classes, employment tips and trends and placement in employment; Coordinate employment services and placement for non custodial parents; coordinate employment services between community corrections, workforce development, local and state correction facilities, and other related human services programs.

This is a grant funded position ending September 2018 with the anticipation of becoming a regular funded position contingent upon the budget.

Essential Duties:
Aggressively works with business and industry to identify employment needs; works with non custodial parents to identify training needs, and integrates customized training, job readiness, skills assessments, and job search programs. Works with community corrections programs to establish enrollment and participation in employability programs; will integrate workforce and community programs to provide resources and tools that strengthen work readiness; collaborate with reentry and human services teams to identify eligible non custodial parents and families for grant participation, and match eligible candidates with employers. Conduct outreach and recruitment of potential employers; assist in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training needs of customers; develop and maintain contacts with community and business organizations for the purpose of employment outreach and placements; present information regarding employment programs and services to customers, organizations and groups. Works closely with Jefferson County Workforce Center job developers, employment specialists and employment managers to integrate job readiness and training programs; responsible for conducting 40-hour intensive job readiness class for every customer; and, provides professional resume training, conducts mock interviews, internet protocols, acceptable workplace behaviors, etc. Provides customers with resources for coping with the employment process for job search, hiring, and retention; works with employer groups to help customers obtain and retain employment. Enrolls all clients into the Connecting Colorado database, performs skill assessments, and collaborates with case managers to include individual and family coaching practices that encourage self-sufficiency, build upon strengths and address barriers.

Qualifications:
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field; normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum experience of three years working with at-risk or like populations in an adult setting. Experience may substitute degree.

Knowledge and experience with local area employment needs; ability to work with demand industries, local employer networks, and community organizations

Ability to work with customers on case planning with faith- and community-based representatives regarding employment, vocational training, skills training and on-the-job training providers

Ability to monitor, track, and report on client participation, progress, and program results

Ability to conduct employment outreach and job development efforts with employers and community partners to establish a local community resource network

Ability to work with case managers, create employment plans, and coordinate service delivery

Ability to integrate or create innovative practices to meet client needs; meets with clients and employers individually or group settings

Effective communication, interpersonal, and intrapersonal skills for contacts at all levels

Good interpersonal skills with the ability to set boundaries

Good presentation, public speaking and facilitation skills

Good organizational skills and attention to detail

Good networking skills

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately

Solid computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; has knowledge using computer lab as required

Offer of employment contingent on criminal history check, Motor Vehicle Report, and education verification. Must have valid driver’s license, if you are from out of state, you must obtain a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violations, including DUI, DWI, and/or DWAI conviction(s) in the past three years.
