Trails Program Coordinator

Under limited supervision, provides professional planning related to Open Space preservation and management. Oversees all stages of plan and project development of Open Space parks with heavy emphasis on trail planning and development. Must have the ability to self-organize and plan own tasks and work products, meet tight deadlines, work on multiple projects at one time, project management experience, experience planning and coordinating trail or recreational components and facilities.

Essential Duties:

– Coordinate and collaborate with staff, other municipalities and the public to advance trail development through planning, developing and updating trails master planning documents

– Employee will lead interdisciplinary planning teams related to the evaluation and approval of park and community trail projects; via written, oral and graphic information and presentations.

– Coordinate planning of trails development; prioritizing projects, documenting scope, creating cost estimations, and planning the scheduling of staff, contractors and consultants

– Employee is responsible for attending and representing Open Space at a variety of internal and external project meetings and regularly interacting with the community.

– Employee is responsible for research, preparing planning studies and design solutions for trail projects, as well as writing grant applications for funding to meet project objectives

Qualifications:

Requires Bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation management, landscape architecture, environmental planning or policy, natural resource management, community design, urban & regional planning or equivalent. Master’s Degree preferred.

Minimum of 1 year experience in one of the above areas required, 3 years of experience preferred.

Offer of employment contingent on criminal history, motor vehicle record checks and education verification.

Trail and outdoor recreation planning experience, project management, conservation planning and government experience preferred.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering and architectural drawings, designs, diagrams, specifications and topo maps preferred.

Knowledge of GIS software applications is preferred.

PMP and/or RLA Preferred.

Additional Information:

Must possess valid driver’s license, requires valid Colorado driver’s license within thirty days hire date; in order to be approved, you must have no more than three violations, no major violations and no suspension for moving violations in the past three years.
