Email Marketing Developer (HTML)

Overview

The Email Marketing Developer will serve as a key member of the Digital Strategy and Delivery Team in helping the Customer Acquisition, Loyalty & Retention, and Support teams execute on strategic communications built to accelerate growth, sharpen communications effectiveness, and improve communications efficiency. This candidate will support cross-functional teams in an ad-hoc capacity to develop and test surveys, promotions, and critical account-related communications. The role will also use their high degree of familiarity with the latest and greatest email development strategies and responsive HTML principles to generate best-in-class email templates. An obsessive attention to detail is key due to the highly-visible customer facing nature of the work and the need to adhere to strict compliance operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Using advanced knowledge in HTML, responsible for the development of monthly batched emails, the development and maintenance of ongoing automated email series, as well as supporting the business in an ad-hoc capacity for developing surveys, sales-oriented messages, product launches, and other communications. Interface with graphic design, content, and development teams as needed.
  • Using provided tools, apply best practices for email development, including mobile-optimization, consistency across various ISPs, and execution of quality assurance testing in order to ensure positive deliverability scores and a clean user experience across all screens. Edit and proof content for completeness, style, and accuracy.
  • Under guidance of the Associate Manager, Campaign Management and Delivery, assist in email QA, Spam testing, and UAT, and in partnership with team Project Manager, retrieve final approvals from main stakeholders to ensure strategic outcomes and operational accuracy are achieved in final product.
  • Train to build basic understanding of Email Marketing platform and apply learnings to build email templates, generate personalized email content, assist in formal QA process mentioned above, and assist in the creation of future automated campaigns and programs.
  • Perform updates to data architecture within the Email Marketing Platform, and create and update web forms, as needed, to assist in the collection and management of customer data.
  • Research industry trends and updates within the Email Marketing space to stay on top of new technologies and changes that affect email inboxing and inbox views across various ISPs
  • Perform production duties related to customer review platform.
  • Opportunity to grow into multi-channel production support utilizing website content management system, site personalization tool, and promotions engine.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of HTML experience.
  • Proficiency in enterprise Email Service Provider tool preferred, but not required (e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud, IBM Marketing Cloud, ConstantContact, MyEmma, MailChimp, etc.)
  • Proficiency in MS Word / Excel / PowerPoint or Google equivalents.
  • Proficiency in building mobile-optimized, dynamic, and personalized email templates that are consistent across various ISPs.
  • Ability to draw up and communicate workflows for trigger-based or journey-led communications.
  • Basic knowledge of web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics and native Email Service Provider analytics.
  • Position requires a passion for B2C communications, detail orientation, and the ability to approach challenges with logic, problem solving, independent thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interact successfully with cross-functional teams and build collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
