Development Specialist (Exempt)

Purpose

To support the Moody College of Communication External Relations office through administrative support, maintaining accurate records, assisting with college events, gift processing and reporting, and assisting with identification of new donor prospects.

Essential Functions

Create reports as directed by gift officers, director of development, assistant dean and dean of the College; create VIP and other reports, manage and update constituent information in VIP database. Write and manage stewardship letters and other communication. Process business documents including travel requests and reimbursements. Manage office supplies; assemble donor packets; gift processing, endowment reporting and other related administrative duties. Plan, execute and participate in external relations initiated events and internal meetings as directed. Through research, assist with identifying new donor prospects for the Moody College. Assist External Relations staff in the creation of proposals, donor mailings and create other marketing materials as assigned.

Other related functions as assigned.

Licenses:
Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving

Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver’s License

within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. One year of experience in specialized development work or in a related field. Excellent verbal, writing, editing and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, and manage finite details of several concurrent projects. Ability to use a MAC and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Moody College of Communication Graduate. Experience working with internal and external constituents, including faculty, administrators, parents, foundations, corporate and business leaders. Experience and proficiency with UT Austin applications, DEFINE, VIP and other systems and familiarity with University of Texas policies and procedures. Experience in gift and travel vouchers processing. Experience creating donor research reports.

Must be able to drive and travel days, evenings and weekends when necessary. Lift and move standard office supplies, files, and set-up for events.

A criminal history background check will be required

for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement

System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the

position being at least 20 hours per week and at least

135 days in length.
