DB2 DBA

As a member of the DBA team, the candidate will be supporting IBM DB2 and SQL Server. Team member will share responsibility with other DBAs to provide 24 by 7 support to the company. He or she will be also responsible to support developers in performance tuning and query rewrite in a very large, continually growing DB2 & SQL environments.

Required skills:

•Strong experience in Database Administration in DB2 on AIX (V9.7 and V10.5)

•Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.

•Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using topas, db2top, db2 snapshot monitor, db2 event trace monitor and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

•Ability to detect and troubleshoot DB2/AIX related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.

•Strong knowledge of backups, restores and recovery model.

•Expert experience in implementing operational automation using korn shell or perl scripts or other tools .

•Strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, install, instance creation and fix pack apply, and how statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.

•Knowledge of DB2 utilities and commands ( backup, reorg, runstats, recover, restore , ALTER command, DB2 Stored procedures, DB2 table functions, db2 configuration and db2 views )

•Experience in installing , set up and running DB2 unidirectional Q replication (9.7 and 10.x)

•Install and upgrade DB2 server and client.

•Support developers to migrate their application to higher level of DB2 server and client.

•MS SQL Server experience is also a plus, especially MS SQL Server transactional pull replication setup and support experience is critical.

•The person should be highly self-motivated, task oriented and capable of working independently in carrying out tasks and trouble shooting.
