Database & Reporting Analyst – Cruise Industry

SCOPE OF WORK:

The Revenue Management Development and Systems team is responsible for all data, decision tools, reporting, and information needs for the Revenue Management and Air/Sea teams. The Database & Reporting Analyst assists in supporting the team’s database, jobs, and reports. Serves as contact person for the department to help explain the tools and data results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining revenue management systems.
  • Business Intelligence reporting and user tools.
  • Update current modeling and PL/SQL coding techniques for changing business patterns, to reduce error and improve efficiency.
  • Develop new reporting by creating new queries or coding new processes.
  • Work closely with the Revenue Management and Air/Sea teams to understand their business, challenges, and objectives.
  • Learn to determine user requirements, develop own suggestions to meet their reporting needs, develop the tool or report and work with teams to ensure it meets their needs and provides relevant, actionable Revenue or Air/Sea related information in the most effective format and medium.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data and analysis needs while supporting various projects.
  • Learn the DB2 and Data Warehouse systems in order to pull various data sets required for exception reporting, operational reports, or ad hoc analyses.
  • Continuously search for potential business improvements, revenue opportunity, and efficiency gains.
  • Clearly explain tools and results to teams and management.
  • Develop and conduct clear, concise presentations, communicating technical methods, and impacts in business terms.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required skills/competencies:

  • Oracle PL/SQL with knowledge of SQL analytical functions and syntax.
  • Strong relational database concepts, design, and SQL programming.
  • 2+ years of work experience.
  • Report developmentAnalytical skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement applications using a programming language (PL/SQL).
  • Experience in supporting and interpreting reporting using Business Intelligence tools (Hyperion/Power BI Experience a plus).
  • Ability to handle dynamic workload, balancing short and long term projects.
  • Ability to interpret analytical results into meaningful business terms and translate business needs to programming and data modeling.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to business and technical audiences in both spoken and written formats.
