Database Administrator – DB2 LUW UDB

The Database Administration team is seeking a DB2 LUW UDB Database Administrator who will be responsible for Database Administration in a fast-paced environment supporting business critical applications using analytical and transactional databases on DB2 LUW. We are a deep and talented resource pool of database professionals with a mission to establish robust data governance and database management practices, with a focus to build strong partnerships within all areas of the company requiring database support. Database Administration’s strategy is to provide highly reliable, scalable and supportable database environments through the use of consistent, effective processes and best practices.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Install, configure, monitor, upgrade and maintain DB2 LUW databases in production and non-production environments.
  • Interact with Storage and Deployment teams with AIX, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
  • Support a High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) environment.
  • Participate in Database Maintenance and DR activities.
  • Provide database deployment support for production and non-production environments.
  • Perform space management activities such as table space creation, modification, etc.
  • Perform DB2 LUW maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot database production problems and database connectivity issues.
  • Implement Business Continuity Solutions such as Database refresh, cloning, Database Backups, etc.
  • Write database maintenance and automation scripts.
  • Monitor the database environment on a regular basis for performance and other issues.
  • Perform database maintenance activities using security and access control tools.
  • Implement DR solutions.
  • Configure and maintain database high availability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in design and administration of logical and relational databases or systems analysis.
  • Solid understanding of Database technology – DB2 LUW.
  • Good understanding of Linux/VM, AIX, Linux/Unix and Windows operating system platforms.
  • Good understanding of HA, DR Databases and storage technologies such as Data Replication, SRDF/non-SRDF.
  • Experience with Unix Shell scripting and automation.
  • Database performance tuning experience.
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry.
  • Ability to work well as a team and as an individual with minimal supervision.
