Data Control Clerk II

With limited supervision from the Clinical Trials Manager, the Data Clerk provides data management and clinical trial support of large, multi-site biomedical and social-behavioral clinical trials within the URCC NCORP Research Base. As part of a dynamic, high volume research program, this position requires flexibility to vary tasks as needed, coordinating with multidisciplinary study teams to accommodate project deadlines, perform data entry and data management; maintain strict adherence to HIPAA privacy and security policies and data quality assurance and quality control standards; assist in training of students or other staff as needed. Ensures quality in all aspects of data management. Requires collaboration with investigators, health project coordinators, analyst programmers and other research personnel.


Responsibilities:

Log high volume incoming research data for multiple studies, review for accuracy and completeness, scan and verify data, determine if data queries are necessary.

Assist multiple study teams in developing data collection instruments and methods, establish and maintain databases, and perform data quality checks.

Assist in creating reports for NCI and CIRB, and other study-related items as necessary such as manuals and training materials.

Work with study teams and IT to design/create scannable (Teleform™) and REDCap versions of study questionnaires and creates Access databases for data to be scanned into.
Analyze and suggest improvements in flow of information, error detection/correction, etc., work closely with investigators in developing appropriate data handling procedures for each research project.

Prepare weekly site-specific progress reports and summaries of data; send daily queries to off-site locations for clarification or missing data; report study progress to research team on weekly basis.

Log and scan biospecimens received from sites and assist lab personnel with biospecimen storage

Assist in developing SOPs for all aspects of data management.

Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Requires 1 year of relevant post High School education and 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with coursework in behavioral health/social sciences. Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Access, Excel and Word), accuracy and close attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
