Data Center Technician and Online Support Rep

Tier.Net, an industry-recognized leader in the hosting industry, has a unique opportunity available for a part-time OR full-time technician to, in-part, perform server and network services at our Dallas, Texas area datacenter locations, and to, in-part, provide online technical support from the convenience of your home.

If you have a good working knowledge of networking hardware, are familiar with rackmount servers, and can be available to provide services at our Dallas facilities as well as provide online support from your home, we invite you to apply to join our team.

For clarification, this is a hybrid position in which you will work from home to provide online technical support services, and when needed, work at our datacenter locations to perform server and network services.

General Requirements:

– Hardware troubleshooting skills with comfort working in a datacenter environment

– Ability to set up and maintain enterprise grade hardware from various manufacturers (HP, Dell, Sun, etc)

– Ability to install (and remove) racks, shelving, power strips, rails, and cabling within a datacenter

– Ability to perform operating system installs with different versions of Windows and Linux

– Manage requests on a ticketing system

– Maintain accurate records of datacenter equipment and services performed

– Have flexibility to occasionally work different shifts which sometimes may include nights, weekends, and holidays

– Microsoft and/or Cisco certification/training is a plus; Experience with Cisco switches is also a plus

– Ability to provide online technical support from home using high-speed Internet access

– Excellent customer service and support skills
