Craft Payroll Timekeeper (Accounting Assistant 4)

Responsible for entering time as reported, verifying that the time entry matches the time reported on the timesheet; providing assistance on labor capture related questions, review all termination timesheets for accuracy and completeness, and to archive timesheets. The Timekeeper primary accountabilities are as follows:

Timekeeping: With minimal supervision, responsible for accurate manual entry of daily craft timesheets, which are submitted on the subsequent day of work performed. The data entry includes inputting work types, job and cost codes. Manually verification of timesheets vs. data entry ensures that wage payments and cost accounting processing meet contract and audit requirements. Error resolution also includes immediate timekeeping communication to craft management and their prompt response.

Reconciliations: Review daily and weekly error reports, then initiate and ensure that all corrections are made prior to processing the next payroll.

Customer Service: All business correspondence must be composed in a professional manner.

Filing: Must have excellent organizational skills. Ensure management of records is in accordance with LANL policy and procedure for Records Management. Keep timesheets and related records in order by day/week, crew, and alphabetical last name order to have records maintained and stored.

Archiving: Ensure that all records are inventoried with a file plan so that all records are properly identified, indexed, authenticated and organized to facilitate ready access.

Other: Perform assigned tasks in other areas as requires based on work load availability. Adhere to Laboratory safety, environment, security and other compliance requirements.

This position requires availability to periodically work outside of the normal work week. Requires accuracy, strong analytical and time management skills, ability to work independently, and to identify and resolve routine problems. Must have a strong work ethic, ability to meet deadlines and proven record of excellent attendance.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
Working knowledge of electronic timekeeping systems and LANL craft payroll work processes and techniques, concepts and terminology.

Ability to work continuously and accurately with figures; perform arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division; accurately compare and transcribe figures with excellent attention to detail.

Demonstrated awareness of importance of confidentiality and requirements surrounding Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Demonstrated organizational skills to independently establish priorities and to execute business and financial assignments within required deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team within strict time deadlines.

Proficient with various computer software programs such as Microsoft Office and E-mail; must have demonstrated working knowledge in Word and Excel.

Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the job functions.

This position typically requires three or more years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Skills:
One (1) year work experience with LANL union craft timekeeping.

One (1) year work experience with spreadsheets, electronic financial or payroll systems

Additional Details:
No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
