Corporate Development Analyst

JOB OVERVIEW
The Corporate Development Analyst will support the Director of Business Development in creating, analyzing and making recommendations to senior management for new business opportunities consistent with our internal strategy. They will be involved in analyzing new markets, performing due diligence, running financial models and creating presentation decks to help management understand each of the opportunities as well as the health of the markets we may be entering. Analyst will also be helping the company to understand where it can add value in these new opportunities and how to helps us achieve our Long Range Financial Goals.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive and manage the development of a detailed “bottoms up” New Business Development Plan that will provide a roadmap for the business to achieve its long term goals as they relate to non-core business. Work closely with senior management to develop and manage the plan.
  • Analyze various new markets to understand their potential.
  • Assist the team in due diligence and analysis of new opportunities.
  • Provide integration support for any new businesses that the company may acquire.
  • Work with internal team and outside bankers to run/update the financial models used to evaluate new opportunities.
  • Help create presentations to Senior Management and the Board of Directors to help those teams understand and evaluate new opportunities.
  • Help the company identify key synergies with the core business for any new opportuniites we are evaluating.
  • Work with business leaders to develop economic models that maximize the profit potential of new growth opportunities.
  • Develop pro forma financial analysis for all significant new venture investments or acquisitions.
  • Serve as a project leader in the due diligence activities for acquisitions or other new ventures. Work with the leaders of the accounting, tax, finance, etc. to support their due diligence efforts in each of these functional areas.
  • Develop a standardized approach for evaluating the return on investment (including metrics such as ROIC, NPV and IRR) for both past and future new ventures as well as acquisitions. These metrics should be standardized across the company to provide “apples-to-apples” comparisons for multiple opportunities.
  • Other projects as assigned to support functional goals.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills.
  • Able to effectively lead and manage projects from start to finish meeting both time goals and desired results.
  • Persistent drive for results. Ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of finance tools, practices, and principles.
  • Solid knowledge of valuation and financial modeling.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, including ability to prepare and deliver business critical presentations to senior management and Board members.
  • Strong consultative, collaboration and negotiation skills. Builds relationships and is able to effectively influence both internal and external business partners.
  • Able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and reprioritize quickly based upon directional changes.
  • Advanced knowledge of and skill level in MS Word, MS Power Point and MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of SAP preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of business development experience.
  • Experience leading complex, cross functional projects involving multiple departments.
  • Experience with investment banking, commercial banking, investor relations, new markets, acquisitions, mergers preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if applicable)

  • Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment.
  • Extensive use of office equipment to include computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other business related machines and software.
  • Ability to travel with short notice.
