JOB TITLE: COMPUTER PROGRAMMER


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

The position is responsible for computer application programming for testing chambers and fixtures. This position will write, test, debug, and maintain the detailed computer programs that a computer must follow to control systems, collect data, input data into real-time calculations and output collected data into easy to understand reports. This position will also conceive, design, and test logical structures for solving problems by computer for mechanical system control and data collection systems. The computer programmer will also review and recommend changes to existing programs (much of this is in LabVIEW) to serve clients by providing better real-time interface displays, shorten the time to reach stabilized conditions, clear report outputs, collection and storage of data, etc.


REPORTING STRUCTURE:

This position will report to the Design Services Program Manager

  • Under the guidance of the Design Services Program Manager in Plano and other engineers in the department, the computer programmer will write and adjust the source code for the control of mechanical, electrical and data acquisition. The computer programmer will review and recommend changes to programs to suit the test equipment being designed. This position requires considerable skills for the computer programming and programming of embedded firmware to control mechanical systems, data acquisition equipment, control circuits. The primary focus is HVAC, Refrigeration and appliance chamber and fixture construction.

o Validate the project scope.

o Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions and adjust the software to control these devises.

o Create a library of basic code that can be modified or customized for a specific application.

  • Communicate project status to other team members and management throughout the planning and implementation process.

  • Within guidelines provided, identify, properly document, and recommend changes to the software design.

  • Perform other work as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related area.

  • 5-7 years related experience in computer programming.

  • Extensive experience in computer programming using programs such as Assembly, COBOL, C, C++, C#, Java, LabView, Lisp, Python, etc.

  • Professional certification as a LabView programmer.

  • Programming for building systems for commercial, light industrial, industrial mechanical systems is a plus.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in fast-paced, multi-tasking role.

  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.

  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently with established parameters.

  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate.
