The Flight Operations Division at Delta Air Lines has a mission to operate the safest, most reliable and efficient airline in the world, while exceeding customer expectations. We are a team of aviation professionals supporting 13,000 pilots.

Business Technology and Operation Support

The Business Technology and Operation Support department supports the entire Flight Operations Division through advancing technology applications and support assets to enable the division’s mission. We evaluate current work processes identifying business opportunities to recommend, leverage and enable technology solutions that align with senior leadership’s strategy to continuously improve the line pilot experience. One particular focus currently is that we lead and manage program deliverables of the pilot Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), a portable device which stores digital copies of navigation charts and flight manuals needed by pilots to operate the aircraft and which, previously were in paper format.

Co-Op Job Summary

The Co-op will work at Delta’s World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a paid position, including additional privileges such as standby travel anywhere in the Delta system while off duty. The Co-op will learn about the industry and gain valuable life experience. The Co-op will be exposed to other departments within Flight Operations such as: Fleet Operations, Flying Operations, Line Operations, Crew Resources & Scheduling, Flight Training, and Simulator Support.

Co-Op Job Responsibilities

Partner with multiple divisional stakeholders and groups to define business improvement opportunities, assist with developing and maturing recommended solutions, and implement initiative tracking methodologies

Support Delta’s global innovation initiative through applications of creative design concepts to evolve stakeholder approaches to problem and solution design

Support business owner and project teams by developing and executing field and user experience testing on proposed technology solutions

Develop and implement feedback analysis using basic survey and statistics methodologies

Partner with the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) team to test solutions, develop support material, and identify opportunities for future enhancements

Support project leaders on technology programs with external vendors and Information Technology teams to identify and troubleshoot issues, develop solutions, and deliver solutions in a timely manner in order to minimize impact to the operation

Think, design and create innovative solutions to support project team in improving the pilot work experience

Job Qualifications

Pursuing undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, Operations/Industrial Management, or Industrial Engineering

Familiarity with modern app design and development

Strong organizational and time management skills required

Ability to work under tight deadlines and time constraints while being able to manage and prioritize multiple project requests simultaneously

Strong interpersonal skills and leadership required to promote value-based relationships

Highly preferred: curiosity, sense of humor, willingness to try new ideas and persistence in the face of adversity
