Clinical Analysis Consultant

The Business Analysis Consultant is responsible for supporting the technology needs of clinical operations as part of the Clinical Self Service team. The role supports the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Integration with Medical Prior Authorization Program, which is technology that enables providers to receive prior authorization determinations from within their internal EMR system. Primary responsibilities include supporting the analysis and creation of business requirements in the form of features and user stories in an Agile framework. The role has direct interaction with business partners and business area Subject Matter Experts to understand how business uses the technology, to identify problem areas, and to make recommendations on how to remediate issues.

The Business Analysis Consultant must demonstrate expertise and detailed knowledge of the technology functionality and business processes so they can identify the appropriate remediation actions. The Business Analysis Consultant must maintain a high degree of accuracy and technical competence; possess superior attention to detail, and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. The Analyst must have strong interpersonal skills, have the ability to consistently meet deadlines, and provide support for all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Gathering and analyzing business requirements for system enhancements
  • Creating Features and User Stories that represent the business needs for the system
  • Conducting analysis on complex business problems, and making recommendations on solutions
  • Supporting all system upgrades and migrations
  • Mapping current and future state business workflows
  • Performing and supporting User Acceptance Testing for system enhancements
  • Identifying and assisting with benefit savings calculations from enhancement opportunities
  • Securing business approval from business stakeholders on all project deliverables
  • Supporting the project through the development lifecycle
  • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert for the tools and applications supported
  • Supporting business groups (Training, Help Desk, Operations & Maintenance) in preparation for application deployment
  • Mentoring other Business Analysts


Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in Business, Technology, Clinical, or related field
  • 5 or more years of experience eliciting and writing business requirements
  • 5 or more years of experience mapping business process
  • 5 or more years of experience with interacting and communicating effectively with business stakeholders and technology teams at all levels of the organization
  • 2 or more years of experience with User Acceptance Testing and/or QA testing experience
  • 1 or more years of experience supporting technology within an Agile framework
  • Experience applying analytical thinking to very detailed business scenarios
  • Intermediate experience using MS Word, Excel, Visio, and Powerpoint
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience supporting healthcare or clinical systems or technologies
  • Experience working with portal applications that serve an external user base
  • Experience supporting Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions
  • Reporting and data analytics experience
  • Clinical business operations experience or knowledge
  • Project management or project coordination experience
  • Ability to work with technical teams and understand technical details
  • Ability to quickly understand business process and business needs
