Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Chief Technology Officer.

The Chief Technology Officer reports to the Deputy Town Manager. The primary function of this position is to ensure that Gilbert maintains a technological edge by providing leadership on technology issues and ensuring the alignment of a technology vision with organizational strategy and execution. This position provides leadership for Information Technology and Operations functions, and drives innovation through technology throughout the Town of Gilbert.

This position will contribute to Gilbert’s vision of strategic innovation by:

  • Establishing a technical vision for the Town while developing and implementing Gilbert’s technological strategy encompassing people, process, data and technology;
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders of the organization to define requirements for technology needs (including but not limited to hardware, connected data, software and security), evaluate current technologies and decides when a new implementation is appropriate;
  • Analyzing and improving upon technology standards and maintaining organizational awareness of new technologies;
  • Providing leadership, coaching and performance management to a department of IT professionals consistent with Gilbert’s servant leadership model;
  • Scouting for new ideas and insights, promoting open innovation and introducing group tools and processes that drive creative thinking;
  • Analyzing and evaluating leading-edge trends, market disruptions, and emerging technologies; and
  • Being a good steward of taxpayer funds and adhering to assigned budget limits.

You are someone who effectively exceeds customer needs by building productive relationships, and taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty. You actively participate as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals and produce quality outcomes. You are committed to our safety philosophy, and you take great pride in proactively managing time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently while accomplishing objectives and achieving goals beyond what is required.

At Team Gilbert, we hire innovative, forward thinking problem-solvers who love what they do! In addition to possessing the ability to live out our core and functional values daily, candidates must possess the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, Masters desirable (or equivalent work experience required);
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in information technology;
  • 7+ years of managerial/strategic leadership experience with a medium to large technology department;
  • Knowledge of local government operations and major lines of service, strategic thinking, and project management;
  • Skilled in relationship-building, interpersonal skills, project management, process improvement, change leadership, and verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to think and act strategically and proactively, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and coach, train, motivate, and influence.
