MS Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. The department is comprised of 10 organizations: Sales, Banking & Corporate-Client Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Client Reporting, Core Processing, Private and International Wealth Management Technology, Technology Integration Office, Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management, Capital Markets Application & Data Services, Deployment Planning & Release Management, and the Chief Operating Office. Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology works with large scale databases such as DB2 and SQL Server, proprietary and non-proprietary messaging software, a broad variety of vendor products, numerous financial exchanges and regulatory entities, and programming languages ranging from .Net and Java to Cobol and VB.Net.

Wealth Management Technology ‘ Jr Business Manager

FTE – Associate

This position is for a Business Manager to support the individual Practice Area Groups (PAG) in Wealth Management Technology. The candidate will be supporting the business management functions of the PAG teams, including resource management, financial oversight, and external vendor procurement. The candidate will interact with the COO team and senior leadership throughout the organization and is expected to demonstrate poise and confidence while acting as a trusted business partner.

Responsibilities include:

– Support the day to day request for Resource / Contract Management including, but not limited to,

– Oversight of resource request management / execution – E2E lifecycle of the creation, tracking and approval process for hiring requests

-Oversight of contract spend management ‘ support PAG business management in understanding client needs for OBA spend, close coordination with Core BM team on execution, assist in management of financials and project impact

– Support PAG business management in oversight / governance of forecasting spend (staffing planner, capital budgeting), understanding variances to actuals (time entry, variances to cash plans, impact to projects)

– Support the day to day request for Financial Management including, but not limited to,

– Department level view of Supply vs. Demand

– RTB, CTB Target tracking and analysis

– Validate / manage the pipeline for hiring and contract spend

– Financial reporting on Actuals vs. Forecast

– Scorecard creation and management

– Support project and ad hoc requests including, but not limited to,

– Functional Team project work, includes core COO strategic projects and offering a client perspective in solutions being built

– Business Process Improvement

– PAG Pack review, reporting and analysis for PAG management

The candidate should be flexible, highly adaptable to a constantly changing environment, and excellent team player. The candidate should expect to work in a global virtual team that spans across multiple time zones. The candidate will be asked to juggle multiple ad hoc requests in addition to the BAU aspects of the role. The candidate will be required to take ownership and accountability of key deliverables and function as a liaison to the central business and portfolio management teams. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and flexible team player who has a strategic vision but also the ability to execute successfully.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and/or Finance.

Years of Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Finance and/or Technology Business Management.

– Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills

– Strong analytic and problem solving skills – Ability to be flexible with ever-changing prioritization – Experience with resource level headcount and financial budgeting

– Must have a thorough understanding of financial principles such as Software Capitalization and accrual basis accounting

– Demonstrated ability to create concise and cogent management reporting

– Ability to drive change throughout the organization across multiple departments and levels.

– Expertise in Excel and Powerpoint including Pivot Tables, formulas, and data manipulation

– Thorough attention to detail and precision

– Dealing with ambiguity and implementing structure where needed – Creative thinker who will take complete ownership and accountability
