Position Summary

Citi Global Digital Payments (GDP) develops and drives the digital strategy for the Citi Global Consumer Bank (GCB). This includes coordination with Global Branded Cards, Global Retail Bank, and Retail Services. With a pre-eminent global brand and distribution, GCB maintains its leadership position by delivering industry-leading capabilities, advanced services and payment systems that address clients’ evolving needs. GDP activities care for all credit, debit and private label credit cards (PLCC) running across all closed loop connections as well as traditional networks (EX; US-Visa, MC, Amex, Discover). In addition, other global networks are included in the partner model, as are new payment systems (Clear Exchange) and digital leaders (EX: Apple, PayPal, Google).

GDP Business Development leads partner-based aspects of the strategy. Integral to GDP’s success are partner focused solutions, capabilities, or asset swaps. GDP BD coordinates the commercial engagement and contract negotiations across a broad spectrum of partners in the global payments ecosystem. BD managers need to be adept at internal/external client relationship development, possess strong process/project management skills, while being driven to goal achievement/deal closure.

The GDP BD Support the overall strategy of GDP related to partnership development and management for external parties in the global digital commerce and capability arena. The GDP BD will support and manage any RFP, contract and general negotiation activities across assigned GDP partners. GDP BD will coordinate with business and functional stakeholders while using effective project and process management techniques and skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in partner lead development/sourcing
  • Work closely with the product and line of business teams in aligning on target prospect strategy
  • Partner with cross functional team members across CFO, Marketing, Decision Management, Risk, Legal and others in developing and submitting proposal, term sheets and full contracts
  • The Business Development Manager will support achieving top and bottom line growth of GCB via partnerships
  • They will assist in building out the pipeline and see potential partners through the development process. The final deliverables will include development assessment criteria for prospective partners, RFP response management, contract development/negotiations, and partner implementation/hand off
  • Develop processes and communications to deeper and enhance existing partnerships
  • Manage agency and consultant interactions as required
  • Develop and customize sales pitches and presentations for prospective partners
  • Assess operational and technical requirements for partnership implementation
  • Adhere to all applicable compliance/control requirements related to partner management, deal process/approval and final internal sign off documentation

Qualifications

  • Digital payments experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in business development, product development or marketing required, with broad understanding of business needs and issues
  • A strong collaborator with a demonstrated ability to influence broadly and challenge conventional thinking. An influencer who communicates clearly and frequently to both technical analysts and non-technical business leaders
  • Proven experience in innovative thinking and problem solving specifically geared around developing new products and processes
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking skills with proven ability to translate large ideas into actionable plans
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills & ability to work with senior management required
  • PowerPoint and Excel experience required
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and manage diverse tasks for all Business Development team members and objectives
