Building Product Manufacturer Summer Intern

This position can be located in any of Avitru’s main offices – Alexandria, VA, Salt Lake City, Portand Maine or Atlanta. The preferred location is Atlanta.

Key Outcomes

As the building product manufacturer research intern, you can positively impact the whole commercial construction industry by researching, identifying, evaluating, and adding products and manufacturers to the MasterSpec Master Guide Specifications. Those guides are used in nearly 85% of the commercial construction.

You will gain an understanding of the requirements of commercial construction, the criteria for selection of product types in large scale construction, utilization of analytics in production selection, and the research tools used by the writers of AIA MasterSpec guidelines.

The deliverables from the internship will be to

• Identify areas of opportunity for expansion of product and manufacturer listing
• Create a list of the products and manufacturers by their ability to meet the product type requirements
• Present and convince the team on why those should be included
• Get them added to MasterSpec, the industry standard for commercial construction specification

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a curious individual who sees them self as a go-getter and welcomes the challenge of meeting the needs of a growing business. The ideal candidate will be available 40 hours a week for the majority of the summer of 2018 and will:

• Currently be pursuing a post-graduate degree in architecture or in an engineering discipline with a focus on construction or have work-experience equivalent.
• Have the ability to take direction from stakeholders yet apply fresh thinking
• See their strength as curiosity, attention to detail, and persistence
• Be comfortable with research both online and by phone
• Be energized by the idea of tackling a critical role and the opportunity to impact an industry
