AVP/VP Reinsurance Broker/Risk Advisor (L2)

We are currently looking for Assistant Vice President and Vice President Brokers/Risk Advisors to join our team. We are open to considering candidates for our Edina, MN, New York, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Dallas, TX, and Chicago, IL locations. Please let us know which location you are interested in.
In the Broker/Risk Advisor role, you will be responsible for providing clients and prospects with outstanding service to allow BMS to create, administer, and service the best and most efficient reinsurance programs and additional services to meet the client’s needs. At a VP level, you will also strategize directly with clients on risk management analysis, including quantifying how much risk to retain and transfer to the reinsurance market. Additionally, you will ensure client and reinsurer relationships are maintained, coordinate and manage client account activities, and actively participate in client prospecting activities on behalf of BMS.
Successful candidates will possess the following required skills and experience:
  • BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of three to ten years experience working in a reinsurance, insurance or financial services professional environment in a broker role
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products, as well as an excellent understanding of reinsurance contracts
  • Ability and willingness to build and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with internal and external clients and contacts
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently organize, manipulate, and analyze large amounts of data
  • Ability to view situations from the perspective of the client in order to anticipate and meet the client’s needs, challenge the status quo, and offer creative solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent listening skills
  • Strong organization and time management abilities with high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong ability to effectively use the Microsoft suite of products, particularly Excel
  • Ability to learn quickly and effectively incorporate new concepts and practices; flexible and open to change with the ability to see the big picture and apply everyday knowledge and experience to making BMS successful
  • Understanding of catastrophe modeling process/output, actuarial process/output, and client-specific processes/output
  • Understanding of AM Best rating methodology and applicability
  • Willingness and ability to mentor junior brokers
