Accounting Officer Inter

In this position you will perform, coordinate, interpret, and analyze a full range of professional accounting functions for various activities for both internal and/or external agencies of the Department of Administration (Admin). Accounting functions include budgeting, business plan review, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), transfers, preparation of proprietary fund financial statements and documents, and other financial reporting as required. As well as, to coordinate and monitor cash flow requests for Admin proprietary funds.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related discipline OR two years of professional accounting experience
  • Experience preparing basic and complex financial documents and/or statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other applicable statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to use business English grammar, spelling, and punctuation to write and edit reports, letters, and other documents
  • Ability to use MS Office – word processing, spreadsheets, and other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, reconciliation, letters, and other documents
  • Knowledge of a wide range of accounting experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, and cash receipts sufficient to perform analysis and interpret errors
  • Problem solving and organizational/planning skills necessary to independently complete assignments in accordance with established time frames
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle stressful situations in a positive, proactive manner


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting experience in state government
  • Experience working with Online Electronic Inter Office Requisition (EIOR)
  • Experience in State fiscal systems such as SWIFT, SEMA4, OBIEE, or other comparable systems
  • Knowledge and experience working with Peachtree, Sage 50
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy working with numbers and recordkeeping on a daily basis
  • Ability to interpret and explain accounting and related fiscal policies, procedures, and practices to customers
