Accountant 1

The Accountant 1 is responsible for ensuring all company transactions are being recorded in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, as well as US GAAP. Main responsibilities include, review of monthly transactions, preparation and posting of journal entries, preparation of monthly account reconciliations, compilation of revenue transaction documentation that will aide in the revenue recognition analysis, maintaining the fixed asset system and accounting for the Company’s fixed assets and capital expenditures, helping out other members of the general ledger and accounts payable team as needed, and various other analyses.

Essential Functions

  • Helps maintain one or more accounting systems: Journal entries, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, etc.
  • Records general journal entries and prepares monthly reconciliations.
  • Provides record of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions.
  • May assist in the compilation of various financial reporting requirements, including interpreting rules and regulations.
  • May assist in the setup of processes and procedures that properly capture, track and report revenue, including deferred revenue, in accordance with the company revenue recognition policy.
  • May generate revenue reports for internal and/or external use. May interpret reports and records for managers/stakeholders.
  • May be involved in reviewing, tracking and maintaining billing information in the financial systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and other accounting regulations
  • Process vendor invoices, including entering A/P information into Microsoft Dynamics/AX,
  • Research and resolve problems proactively
  • Participating in month end close procedures
  • Review accounts, Process journal entries on a reoccurring basis and determine and process other unique entries
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to maintain acceptable standards of office conduct
  • Ability to come to work demonstrating timely and regular attendance
  • Ability to handles stress

Secondary Functions

  • Quarterly and Annual reserve analysis procedures
  • Quarterly and Annual Reporting Requirements
  • Preparation of audit procedures requests for information and working with the external auditors to answer their questions.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Specific Job Skills

Technical skills

  • Ability to apply professional judgement when evaluating and recording transactions for the company.
  • Ability to use our ERP system (Microsoft AX dynamics), Expense Reporting, and Fixed Asset Systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products including, excel, word, outlook.
  • Strong computer skills – Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word and MS Dynamics systems
  • Attention to detail
  • Perform basic Math (add, subtract, multiply and divide) and Perform advanced Math (analysis, statistics, significant data or number manipulation)
  • Ability to continually learn new things
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communications skills
  • General working knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles)

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specializing in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • 0-2 years of experience as an accountant, with particular GL emphasis
  • Knowledge of accounting, reporting processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of accounting laws and regulations
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics is preferable
  • Experience using an ERP system is preferable
  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak Chinese is required

Job Conditions

  • Standard work schedule Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm
  • Occasional overtime during peak times
  • 8 or more hours per week performing clerical duties
  • Working with others in a team setting.
