What You Will Do
The Classified Systems Services group (XIT-CSS) is currently seeking an energetic and customer focused Computing Systems Technician to provide Windows system administration on the classified network. The successful candidate will work on a team supporting customers in the Prototype Fabrications, Chemistry and SIGMA Divisions.

The CST-5 will work independently and with other team members on several diverse IT related projects and will be responsible for providing end-user and enterprise level computing, network, and technical support.

The successful candidate will perform the following, including but not limited to:

  • Assume a technical role in the design, integration, and support of a Windows environment.

  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting desktops, workstations, and servers in a heterogeneous computing environment.

  • Testing and evaluating commercial and Laboratory developed software for quality control and proper operation.

  • Enforcing strict password policies, data integrity and file system security for the desktop environment.

  • Communicating highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Planning, implementing, and deploying application and operating system upgrades.

  • Recommending hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.

  • Supporting customers, primarily in the classified environment.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of system administration of computers running Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 10 and Windows 2008/2012 Server (to include Active Directory).

  • Experience installing, configuring, and setting up servers and troubleshooting server problems.

  • Experience resolving cross platform application issues.

  • Experience developing automated installation and configuration management tools.

  • Experience troubleshooting problems using, RDP or similar desktop automation system utilities to remotely administer systems.

  • Experience planning and implementing network security measures.

  • Significant experience using a call tracking system.

  • Experience leading a technical project or systems upgrade.

  • Extensive experience interacting with customers and peers in a professional and responsive manner, including mentoring or giving presentations.

Desired Skills:

  • Microsoft Windows Certifications in a current OS.

  • Experience supporting a virtual desktop environment.

  • Experience using or supporting technology such as VMWARE, or PCoIP in a classified computing environment.

Education:

Position typically requires a high school diploma and four-to-six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be expected, including associate’s degrees and graduation from technical institutions.
