Windows Desktop Support Technician

Founded in 2001, our firm provides cradle to grave I.T. support for small businesses with high reliability computing needs. We are seeking to find techs that possess Windows-based Domain and Networking skills.

We build, manage and support small-ish (ranging from 5-100 node) windows domain-based networks for local small business clients; many of whom are in the medical/dental industry. We are seeking a candidate with a solid Desktop Support background in a business Domain/AD setting.

We are looking for existing experience where the applicant was in a position to provide desktop support to end-users in a business environment. Their daily tasks to involve installation/deployment of PCs, printers and scanners as well as troubleshooting networking issues preventing proper domain communications.

MINIMAL REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

– Building PCs from scratch and obviously troubleshooting hardware/driver problems that may arise in the process.

– Hunting down drivers and troubleshooting driver issues.

– Understanding of basic TCP/IP to a sufficient degree necessary to put workstations on the server’s domain.

– Ability to join domains, troubleshooting problems with joining.

– Ability to perform basic Active Directory tasks such as adding user accounts, changing passwords, etc.- Migration of user profiles (manual and automated).

– Experience with MSOffice applications.

– Experience with cleaning viruses/malware from PCs.

– Working with 3rd party software support technicians to jointly troubleshoot a problem.

Additional Desired Skills:

– Experience working with Dental practice management software.

– Experience with Microsoft’s Hosted Exchange (Office 365).

– Advanced Networking skills: Configuring VLANs, firewalls with proxy, VPN, port management, etc.

– Advanced Server Administration skills: migrating domains, troubleshooting BSOD, disaster recovery, etc.

OTHER JOB DUTIES:

– Answer client phone calls and email.

– Document work in our Helpdesk system.

– Provide remote and on-site business client support – user training, problem-solving and workarounds.

– Installations & deployments of PCs, cabling and network gear.

– Mentor Interns, help and assist co-workers on larger projects.

– Working with, engaging and coordinating 3rd party vendors (telecom companies, software vendors, etc.)

– Helping out with other small business tasks like keeping the office tidy, picking up office supplies, etc.

– Maintain a pulse and positive demeanor throughout.

NON-TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

– Positive and pleasant demeanor.

– Good at working with customer face-to-face and phone.

– Professional appearance.

– Some onsite travel.

– You must be completely smoke-free. We work in many highly sensitive medical environments. Smoke odor is completely unacceptable here.

– Have a presentable and dependable vehicle. issues are the routine.

HOURS:

This is an hourly (plus merit-based bonus) position. We are here from 7:30am to 6pm M-F; your shift will fit somewhere in there; with some occasional weekend and on-call work requirements.

Keel-boat sailing experience (or desire) is a plus.

COMPENSATION:

$16.50/h for the first three months; followed by entry into our bonus system, which will allow you to earn additional $500+ in monthly bonuses and a $40k+/yr compensation.
