Gecko Designs has been building websites, creating logos, and helping clients establish their brand for more than 20 years. We work with both big and small companies, locally and nationally.

Position summary

Developers at Gecko Designs engineer complex, mobile-friendly, web-based solutions on a variety of frameworks including WordPress, Magento, and Laravel. The ideal Developer has a strong understanding of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript/jQuery, AJAX/JSON and relational databases such as MySQL.

Responsibilities

*Plans and develops complex solutions on WordPress, Magento, and MVC platforms

*Writes clean, readable, and well-documented code using W3C standards and best practices

*Transforms complex custom designs in Photoshop to CSS/CSS3 and HTML5 templates

*Develops plugins for WordPress and Magento

*Develops mobile friendly websites using responsive techniques

*Works closely with the Development Manager and Project Manager to ensure on-time completion of projects at an extremely high quality

*Basic systems administration on Linux using the command line

Qualifications

*Technical knowledge of web development technologies and methodologies

*Demonstrated excellence in bringing complex web-based solutions to market

*Experience developing web-based solutions using PHP, CSS/CSS3, SCSS, Javascript/jQuery, MySQL, Linux, and other open source software.

*Ability to code pixel perfect responsive layouts from Photoshop files

*Experience with data formats including JSON and XML

*Experience with frameworks including WordPress, Magento, CodeIgniter, MVC frameworks such as Laravel and CodeIgniter, and responsive CSS frameworks such as Foundation.

*Experience with APIs, REST, and other web services

*Understanding of SEO best practices

*A strong desire to learn new technologies and adapt to an ever-changing technical landscape

*Experience with source code management using Git

*Experience with automated deployment including Grunt

*Experience with Agile software development methodologies and practices such as SCRUM, iterative development, unit testing, version control, issue tracking, continuous integration, and pair programming
