Vice President of Finance

Description/Job Summary

Responsible for managing the organization’s overall financial policies and functions including accounting, forecasting, tax reporting, risk management, receivables, payables and banking activity

Responsibilities/Duties

Prepare, evaluate/audit, forecast and report all financial information of the organization

Oversee and ensure integrity and timeliness of all financial statements and tax reporting

Utilize cost accounting methods to collect, analyze, summarize and evaluate various financial courses of action and advise management on the most appropriate course based on cost efficiency and organizational capability

Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and Office of Management and Budget audit requirements

Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial information to the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and make actionable strategic recommendations

Provide strategic financial leadership and support on the evaluation of potential acquisitions, mergers, investments and other issues affecting the business

Upgrade, implement and maintain an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards and procedures through Information Technology systems integration

Develop organizational protocols for risk disclosure and management

Oversee all international finance including foreign currency activity

Drive the cost reduction/profit improvement efforts of the company

Analyze cost of goods sold, margins, rebate programs and pricing strategies

Manage and monitor the banking activities of the organization

Manage cash flow and forecasting to meet operating needs

Work directly with customers to negotiate collections and debt resolution, when needed

Evaluate organizational projects or plans to determine financial impact

Interact with all levels of management and collaborate in driving company initiatives

Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management

Attend the Annual C-TPAT Security Training

Staff management including documenting and communicating objectives, positively impacting employee morale, motivating team members, conducting performance appraisals, and appropriately addressing individual or group performance issues

Assign, train, and develop staff based on experience and departmental goals

Develop goals and objectives, and measure outcomes to ensure goals are met

Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment

Develop a “Strong 2nd” for your area of responsibility

Work effectively with all departments to exceed internal and external expectations

Company retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary

Strong working knowledge of Oracle (or equivalent operating system)

Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Expertise in financial concepts, practices, and procedures

Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

Required Experience

At least 7 years of hands-on finance/accounting management experience within mid to large size manufacturing organizations

At least 5 years of experience in developing and maintaining cost accounting methodologies

At least 3 years of experience with identifying, analyzing and reporting on potential acquisitions

Preferred Experience

At least 5 years of hands-on finance/accounting management experience within mid to large size privately-held manufacturing organizations preferred

At least 3 years of experience with foreign currency activity and transactions preferred

At least 3 years of hands-on experience with the taxation of S Corporations as it relates to the income, deductions and tax credits flowing through to shareholders preferred

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting

Preferred Education

Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred
