Job Overview:
The Vendor Logistics Business Analyst (VLBA) works to maximize cost of goods savings through logistical programs and or supply chain initiatives. The VLBA is the technical and business expert for the logistic team on the buying/wholesale system, Advantage Benefits Model, Microstrategy, SUPERVALU Harbor application, Excel, Access, Teradata, CA OM Web Viewer, Monarch Pro, Culprit/EzTrieve/Ad Hoc Reports and Adobe. The VLBA supports the logistic team with their system expertise in evaluating supply chain initiatives and training other logistic team members and vendor partners.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Works with many internal (Region/Corporate) and external (Vendor Partners, Third Party Contractors) cross functional teams to secure the necessary data to analyze a Logistical Program or Supply Chain Initiative.
  • Executes the necessary analyses to determine the appropriate recommendation for inventory and logistical practice to drive lower cost of goods. Utilizes the ADVANTAGE Vendor Benefits Model (an MS Excel based spreadsheet) and the Source Path Planning tool to determine the appropriate economical inventory and savings by vendor.
  • Analyzes potential opportunities in the area of logistics and inventory to help SUPERVALU reduce its cost of goods by determining least-cost product flow. In order to reduce SUPERVALU’s cost of goods, the VLBA will analyze opportunities related to Vendor Direct Plant Shipments, Average Weight/CUBE/CAW/Pallet Programs, Pallet Percentage Buys, Terms, Order Minimum/Increments, Shelf Life, Joint Orders, Cross Dock Replenishment, Enhanced EDI participation, Truckload Utilization, Truckload Mixing and Retail Cross Docks.
  • Manages the life cycle of the logistic program to include execution, scorecarding, fund collection, auditing, monitoring and course correction. Provides on-going status report to the Director of Vendor Logistic Programs.
  • Creates analytical models for disparate and complex vendor efficiency programs or projects related to new business/shift in Distribution Center volume.
  • Works with Supervisor to prepare annual budget commitments for all accrual/rebate programs and ensure funds are collected in a timely/accurate fashion.
  • Documents and communicates program savings against historical performance. Problem solves shortfall and presents action plan to Director of Vendor Logistic Programs.
  • Independently manages item maintenance activity to ensure program compliance.
  • Manage unique Investment Buy Accounting; collection of funds, fair share expense determination.
  • Prepares annual Investment Buy Agreements and secures supplier signatures and Certificate of Insurance for Records Detention Center and SharePoint site.
  • Leads and supports efforts to improve procurement team processes and efficiencies to reduce administrative time/expenses and increase accuracy in data provided. Participates on various Task Force projects as needed.
  • Develops tracking and reporting, including external and internal data to become “single source of truth” for the Vendor Logistics Team.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in related project analysis position.Knowledge and experience gathering requirements, functional design, and working with business processes.
  • Ability to analyze data quickly and ascertain a plan of action based on that data. Ability to work on multiple projects at once and be able to shift priorities as needed to meet department objectives.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, achieved by experiential or academic routes; strong analytical acumen and technical skills.
  • Ability to execute complex modeling in Excel and Access. Strong proficiency with computer systems and applications.
  • Ability to manage large amounts of data with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with vast amounts of data from different sources.
  • Ability to work well with multiple cross-functional groups.
  • Understanding of regional and corporate level technical buying, product flows, logistical systems, and inventory modeling.
  • Ability to direct, organize, lead and control work group staff.
  • General knowledge of SUPERVALU systems including distribution, accounts payable, fee, freight systems and EDI capabilities a plus.
