FoolsFURY’s 1-6 month internships are a unique opportunity for aspiring theater makers to experience first-hand the many aspects of working in a small cutting-edge theater ensemble. Intern Focus Description:
This year’s season of work and training relies on interns to be flexible and open to the various opportunities that may arise with each project. Interns may be sitting in rehearsals, assisting with board meeting set-up, reaching out to engage community partners for specific projects, helping set up tech for a performance or offering ideas and helping devise a show we’re developing. The work may require coming into our office, working independently and/or traveling to workshop or performance venues. We are looking for
curious, passionate people who are interested in learning a variety of skills and are also willing to contribute their ideas.
Experience:

Administrative: locations/tasks, types of computer applications
Technical: sound or light board operation, set build or load-ins
Front of House: ushering, lobby set-up, box office sales
Stage Management: managing and calling a show
Teaching: assistant teaching, summer camps, workshops
Social Media/Marketing: creating Facebook events, Twitter, blogging, press releases
Hospitality: event planning, care packages to artists, finding lodging, partnering with local
bars/restaurants
Community Engagement: bringing groups of people together such as faith organizations,
schools, arts groups, affinity groups

Requirements:

  • Age: At least 16 years or older
  • Intern Duration: Internships last from 1-6 months. For summer applicants, preference

will be given to applications of 2 months or more.

  • Your Availability: We require a minimum of 5 weeks in the Winter & Spring, 6-12

hours/week before shows with other multiple-day intensives of 3-5 days. If you are in
school, please indicate the last day of classes. Please include any conflicts you may
already know such as weddings, family trips, work, etc. We expect all accepted
applicants to carry out the entire length of the agreed-upon internship duration.

  • Weekly check-in with your point person.

Applications are considered on a rotating basis per foolsFURY staff discretion. It is advisable to
apply well before your date of availability. While there is no monetary compensation for
internship or housing offered, there are many other benefits of a foolsFURY Internship
including:

  • participation in our company retreat getaway in the Sonoma County wine country
  • Ensemble and leadership training tailored just for interns
  • working closely with company members
  • free admission to public workshops, pending availability
  • personal mentorship with company members
  • sit in on rehearsals/observe the process
  • free tickets to shows when available
