Description

Client is seeking a motivated Technology Analyst (Unix/Linux). The Technology Analyst provides System Administration for client Hardware and Operating Systems that support the Enterprise systems (i.e. Linux systems that support Oracle Financials, Weblogic Middleware, OPM, CPG, IMI Specifically – Maintain and Enhance Data network, Data Center software and hardware Support, and maintain end users interfaces. Supports all server hardware platforms.

Major Responsibilities (Other duties as assigned):

  • Manages Unix/Linux environments for Enterprise applications. Installs and maintains the hardware and operating system for the platforms that supports Oracle database and Applications.
  • Manage and administer Oracle OVM and Oracle Enterprise Linux. Maintain Oracle OVM Manager, Create new App Pool, build new OVMS, and manage Compute and OVMM resources.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tool “puppet’.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Database 11g basic administration. Knowledge of weblogic server a plus
  • Implement and maintain system configurations to enforce the security policies necessary to provide a safe and reliable computing environment on the systems. Knowledge of network security would be an advantage. Also, provide guidance and assistance in establishing the Client Security policies.
  • Installation and upgrade of the application software to include Client / Server applications (i.e. EDI server & software, Clear Orbit, Oracle Applications and Databases).
  • Test and install patches and fixes for security bugs in vendor and internal software.
  • Provide Technical Expertise and Administration for the various Information Technologies utilized by Client. Specifically: UNIX Administration, and Network Administration.
  • Manage and Administer ZFS and NetApp Storage. Design storage Configuration, update firmware and software. Manage storage snapshot and replication.
  • Manage the disk farms (SAN or NetApp NAS) associated with the Linux / UNIX systems.
  • Participate in the develop Business Recovery plans for client to recover the Business systems.
  • Analyzes new system requirements and determines the best IT technologies to use for the new system. This included staying current on all technology trends to make recommendations on what technologies to utilize.
  • Establishes and maintains the Client Information Technology Architecture Standards for Enterprise wide systems.

Project Tasks:

  • Coordinate, design, and implement all installs and upgrades to major Enterprise systems that operate on all hardware and operating system platforms.
  • Develop Business Recovery plans for client to recover the Business systems.
  • Coordinate with users, application developers, operations to monitor and ensure the Enterprise systems are available as required by service level agreements.
  • Make recommendations for hardware and software to support requirements.
  • Coordinates with the security administrator so that all responsible systems are implemented with appropriate security. Assists and trains the security administrator managing the security of all the systems managed by this position.
  • Other projects, as assigned by Management.

Skills, Education & Abilities:

  • Training and practical experience in System Administration of Unix, Linux and Windows systems.
  • Experience implementing security on systems to maintain a reliable and safe computing environment using best security practices.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as project management abilities.
  • BS Degree in Computer Science/Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years’ experience within industry as practitioner.
