The Technical Global Architect within the Edge’s Customer Success team will help customers develop the technical vision and high-level designs needed to implement highly available, fault tolerant, distributed architectures based on Edge products. Global Architects serve as the customer’s highest level source for expertise on all Edge products and how they fit together to achieve project and organization goals.

Edge is an advanced API platform that enables enterprises to create, manage, secure and scale APIs. Using Edge, enterprises can design and deploy API proxies in public and private clouds, secure data in transit with OAuth 2.0, SAML and two-way TLS, protect against traffic spikes by adding dynamic routing, caching and rate-limiting policies to APIs, and measure the success of both API operations and API business with end-to-end analytics.

Responsibilities

• Advocate and influence customers to expand and adopt Google platform and technology as part of their connected business transformation.
• Articulate all API program implementation considerations across multiple parts of customers’ organizations and formulate an API technology roadmap (specific areas of concentration include infrastructure planning, developer services, security, auditing, governance and IT operations).
• Define, refine, and execute a connected transformation plan in concert with customer stakeholders.
• Advise customers on API development lifecycle including lifecycle definition, integration with back-end development processes, functional and performance testing, continuous integration, deployment management strategies, versioning and API deprecation.
• Support on-premise Edge implementations by performing high level design of Edge on-premise architectures and build technical strategies for the integration of Edge solutions into customer environments.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or Math or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with any of the following: Linux, DNS, TCP, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, DMZ, Load Balancing, VPN, VPC, database systems, distributed compute environments, application development, mobile development, big data analytics, fundamentals of cloud computing including virtualization, hosted services, multi tenant cloud infrastructures, storage systems and content delivery networks.
• Development experience in one or more core development language (Java, .NET, Python), and experience with XML, XSLT, HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS and web-application technologies

Preferred qualifications:

• 9 years of relevant experience in software development, professional services, solution engineering, technical consulting; with expertise in architecting and rolling out new technology and solution initiatives.
• Experience in building scalable, distributed, server-based enterprise-class applications using J2EE or .Net (this is more for the knowledge that comes from building such systems than the actual technology experience itself).
• Strong understanding of cloud hosting in various platforms (Google Cloud Platform). Hands-on experience with Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, Mesos Marathon or similar technologies. Understanding of serverless technologies such as Google Cloud functions or similar.
• A strong understanding of distributed systems, integration, microservices, IOT, AJAX web services and designing/implementing systems that expose REST and SOAP based APIs. Strong technical leadership.
• An understanding of enterprise networking concepts (DNS, TCP, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, DMZ).
• Ability to interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels utilizing outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to travel frequently (~50%).
