Technical Consultant I

Utilities International, Inc., based in Chicago, Illinois, is the preeminent provider of planning, budgeting, and reporting solutions (both consulting and software) to the electric and gas utility industry. We are looking for strong expertise in one or more of the following areas: software implementation, system integration, or database administration. As a Technical Consultant, you will work directly with client and internal consulting staff requiring expert level technical assistance. You must be able to take instruction and learn from more senior team members as well as contribute back your increasing expertise to the group. The Technical Consultant works as either a consulting team member or an individual technical consultant on product implementation, enhancement, and integration projects. We offer high compensation to self-motivated, intelligent candidates with a proven track record of accomplishment and experience in a consulting environment. Travel is necessary and the candidate must reside near Chicago to commute to our downtown office when not on the road. Potential compensation is $125k-$150k+. US Citizen or Permanent Work Authorization required.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have a four (4) year computer science, MIS, or engineering degree. The candidate is required to bring a mix of strong software system implementation and integration skills along with the ability to focus on a client and to execute complex technical tasks as part of a large scale software implementation project. Experience working with information systems, databases, and programming experience in Java, J2EE, and PL/SQL is required. Experience with accounting and financial systems is desirable but not required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, as well as strong analytical and problem solving skills are mandatory. Prior experience with Oracle, SQL Server, SAP, or PeopleSoft implementations is required. Experience in GWT, object oriented programming, JavaScript, VB-macros, ANT, MS-Office suite integration are a plus. Excellent computer skills (e.g., MS Office; MS Excel) are necessary.
