(Riverside), recognized internationally for providing innovative engineering, science, and information technology solutions to Federal and state agencies, private companies and international organizations, has an immediate opportunity for a Systems Integrator working on site at the USDA / Natural Resources Conversation Service (NRCS) in Fort Collins, CO. Natural resource conservation is an effort of Federal and State agencies, universities, and professional societies to deliver science-based information to land owners. The Position

The successful candidate will be part of the Production Systems Operations (PSO) team and will be responsible for ensuring that commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products and custom-developed applications are successfully deployed and properly managed in an enterprise web environment.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Work week generally consists of 40 hours on-site including core office hours. Off-site and overtime hours must be pre-authorized and may occasionally be necessary. A level of flexibility is expected.
  • Schedules shown below are to be covered on a set rotation every day:
  • On-site support coverage: 7:00am – 5:30pm MT
  • After-hours and weekend on-call coverage
  • Conduct daily checks on production applications and resolve problems encountered
  • Perform regular and frequent deployments of application updates outside of standard business hours (from 5:00pm -10:00pm) using a standard installation process, confirm success of deployment, and troubleshoot problems encountered.
  • Automate complex operational tasks using common scripting utilities
  • Collaborate with members of the PSO team to align datacenter processes and best practices with organizational needs
  • Review and update application support documentation (checklists, daily checks, network diagrams, installation manuals, operations guides, logical deployment diagrams, and so forth) in collaboration with the PSO Tech Writer, Process Engineer, and Program Coordinator.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the PSO Lead Systems Integrator and/or the PSO Program Coordinator
  • Review architectural definition of proposed application implementation
  • Implement instances of application infrastructure per design specification and collaborate with developers on the support profile for their enterprise web-based applications
  • Work with various functional teams to request, provision, and verify all hosting resources in a managed or cloud hosting environment to technical specifications
  • Work with application architects to align datacenter processes and best practices with organizational needs as defined by the Architecture, Development, Quality Assurance, Security, and Operations Teams

Requirements:
Education and Experience:Required:

  • Four year technical degree such as Business Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering and at least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • or –
  • Combination of at least 4 years of relevant work experience with progress towards a bachelor or graduate technical degree

Preferred:

  • At least 5 years of experience with administration of servers and deployment and support of .NET web applications in enterprise class data centers (Windows 2008/2012/2016, Linux-RHEL 5.x/6.x/7.x)

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge and Experience with Windows 2008, 2012 and/or 2016 Server Administration
  • Knowledge and Experience with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 7.5, 8.5, and/or 10
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical problems with production systems
  • Adherence to and on-going improvement of standard processes and procedures
  • Hands-on experience with managing and configuring complex enterprise applications
  • Experience supporting .NET enterprise web applications using SQL Server 2008, 2012, or 2016
  • Ability to coordinate schedules and deliverables with external teams such as hosting and telecommunications
  • Proven record of successful production deployment of enterprise applications in a cross-team collaborative IT environment
  • Ability to recognize design and implementation issues and provide feasible solutions
  • Flexible to dynamic coverage requirements and effective at responding to emergent issues
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and capacity planning
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and documentation skills

Desired Skills (preferred, but not required):

  • SVN source control management system or similar product (ie. CVS, VSS)
  • Ant, nAnt, and/or MS Build experience
  • Familiarity with InstallShield or other similar installation package generation tools
  • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Enterprise-class application monitoring system such as “WhatsUp Gold”
  • Microsoft Office Products including Visio and Project
  • Experience scripting automated tasks using PowerShell
  • Web Services and Service Oriented Architecture
  • Microsoft Systems Administration: Active Directory, policies, monitoring, and diagnostics
  • Integration, deployment, and system administration support of Apache / Tomcat Linux based applications
  • Ability to help design, implement, manage, and enforce cloud provisioning processes
  • Familiarity with SAN, VMWare, Cloud hosting and Database clustering technologies
  • Deployment and administration of ESRI platform and applications
  • Deployment and administration of Pega platform and applications
  • Deployment and administration of Alfresco document management system
  • Deployment and administration of SAS platform and applications
  • Deployment and administration of IBM product lines
  • Experience configuring and leveraging server and network monitoring tools
  • Networking Design and Architecture experience
