System Engineer – Ground Systems

ARES seeks qualified personnel for the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Space Technology Research and Integrated Vehicle Experiments (STRIVE) Contract, located at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. As part of our team, your efforts will further the required research, engineering, technical, and program management to perform aerospace technology research, analysis, integration, and test and evaluation to execute Air Force research. Our team continues to support the primary mission to develop and integrate ground, space and near space experiments designed to assess and prove emerging technologies and concept of operations for military space applications.

Job Description:

• The Systems Engineer will provide Systems Engineering support that encompass those activities necessary to define, design, analyze, evaluate, optimize, fabricate, procure, assemble, integrate, test, deploy, operate, verify, validate, and/or dispose of technical systems necessary to advance the ESPA bus for payloads for effort designated by the Government.
• Fault tree analysis and PRA.
• Additional tools implemented in the ARES engineering scope include Microsoft VISIO (block diagramming, schematics, floor plans), Microsoft EXCEL (spreadsheets), Microsoft Word (documents), Microsoft PowerPoint (slide packages and image generation), Microsoft Project (scheduling), Adobe Acrobat (documents and slide packages), FEMAP with NX NASTRAN (FEA Pre-/Post-processor and Analysis Code), and SolidWorks (3-D CAD).

Required Skills
Minimum Requirements:

• 7-10 years experience on small sat ground systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters or PhD in Engineering
• Proven SE on ground systems is a plus
• Understanding and execution of I&T, and Ground Station interfaces
• Experience in R&D and quick satellite ground station development (less than two years form concept to launch) is a plus

Required Experience
In order to be considered for this position you must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Masters preferred)
• 7-10 years experience
• A current TS clearance with SCI or ability to obtain an SCI clearance
