SYSTEM ANALYST

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Human Resources team is recruiting for a

System Analyst

The HR System Analyst will serve as the integration specialist, report developer, and technical system administrator for enterprise-wide HR administrative systems with a primary focus on the Kronos Workforce Management System. This position will plan, design, test, and implement new IT solutions with a focus on ETL development and database programming. Additional duties will also include liaising with users, coordinating and scheduling upgrades and technical projects as well as system configuration. Ad hoc and periodic reporting for review by executives, directors, and managers as needed will also be a responsibility.

This role will require the ability to learn quickly and become familiar with in-depth knowledge of HR functions and processes or have the ability to rely on resources to research a response.

Essential Accountabilities (with a focus on the Kronos System):

ETL development

Report development

Technical system administration

System configuration

Development, management, and maintenance of all aspects of system integration

Technical documentation

Annual Salary Range: $52,228 – $65,000

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Master’s degree and one (1) year is an acceptable substitution. A list of experience and education substitutions can be found on the UAB Compensation website, if job allows for such substitutions.

The ideal candidate will:
Have demonstrated expertise in ETL development using SSIS or similar technologies

Have database programming and design experience using T-SQL and PL/SQL.

Have experience in system administration and configuration

Be self-managed and proactive

Anticipate and resolve potential problems

Be willing to take ownership of systems and processes

Be willing to go above and beyond and play an essential role in UAB HR’s continued advancement

Job Description

We are seeking a System Analyst to work in the Distributed Operations Support Team. The candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining and day to day care and feed of mission critical 24*7 applications. You’ll be working in a face-paced environment and will be a liaison between the Product Office and Product Development. You will also be working closely with infrastructure, security and other teams as required. Responsibilities would include:

Responsible for supporting critical Visa Business applications and ensuring the stability of the applications.

Perform proactive maintenance activities, engage in automation activities, and perform root cause analysis and remediation.

Write and maintain scripts to monitor system functionality and performance.

Apply code and operation break fixes and other proactive maintenance activities

Will evaluate the issues reported by Visa clients and members in order to provide ongoing solutions.

Performance performance tuning of applications

Execute decisive action to preserve and maintain service availability, performance, integrity, capacity, and security.

Participate in root causes analysis for service failure and provide resolution.

Work with ticketing application to manage tickets and maintain SLA and OLA Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related technical field, followed by five (5) years of work experience.

Knowledge of production support processes, including: incident/change/problem management, and escalation procedures.

Excellent UNIX/Linux Skills and well versed with Windows OS as well.

2 years of experience with WebSphere, Apache Web Servers, MVC framework, IIS, and IBM-IHSweb server

2 years of experience in Production support working in a globally distributed team

1 year of experience with JavaScript, Powershell, NTLM Security

Advance Database Experience with SQL skills (DB2, MSSQL)

Application server/Web server

Software Versioning Tool Experience.

Experience with SAML, Federation, Siteminder and LDAP

Experience with ITIL, BMC Remedy and ticketing workflows.

Experience with Splunk, Nagios, Bigbrother, Munin, Cacti
